Did you know that your adrenal glands take over production of estrogen once your ovaries stop pumping it out?  What happens if they are not able to take over due to being overused and under-supported prior to menopause?

Adrenal fatigue is the main reason women experience menopause symptoms – because their adrenal glands are fatigues they cannot product the necessary estrogen to keep their hormones in balance.  The results are:

  • Irregular periods
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Hot flashes
  • Chills
  • Night sweats
  • Sleep problems
  • Mood changes
  • Weight gain and slowed metabolism
  • Thinning hair and dry skin
  • Loss of breast fullness

If women knew how to take care of their adrenal glands before they hit menopause, most, if not all of the above symptoms would be something they only heard about but did not experience.

Before your adrenal glands take on the responsibility for producing estrogen they are responsible to managing your stress.  Now you probably understand why they are fatigued by the time most women hit menopause.  Usually the 20 – 30 years before menopause are the most stressful years of your life – marriage, kids, work, etc.

So how do you take care of your adrenal glands so you can avoid those horrible menopause symptoms?

  1.  Take care of you first.  I know this sounds impossible but it is not only necessary for the future but for your day-to-day sanity as well.  The saying, “if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy” is very true.  You are no good to anyone else if you are fatigued.  Taking care of yourself means doing some things that make you happy, help you relieve stress – self-love.  Personally, I am an introvert so I need lots of time to think, read, plan and process.  When I was raising my kids I chose to wake up an hour and a half before my kids got up so I could have my quest time and then in the afternoon (I homeschooled my children) my kids had their own quiet time during which time I had another hour of quiet.  The point is, do whatever you have to to take care of yourself so you can take care of your future you and those in your present reality.
